Man charged over serious crash in Huddersfield

Two people were taken to hospital after a three car pile up on Friday evening.

Police investigating a serious crash in the Fenay Bridge area of Huddersfield on Friday evening have charged a man with a number of offences.

It happened at 8.50pm on Friday 11 August on Penistone Road and involved multiple cars.

Josh Boyle 20 of Blagden Lane, Huddersfield has been charged with aggravated vehicle taking, causing serious injury by Dangerous driving, disqualified driving, fail to provide for a drink driving procedure, and failing to stop for police.

The driver and passenger of one of the vehicles received serious but non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to hospital.

Boyle's been remanded to appear at Leeds magistrates this morning. (14 August).

Sergeant Cameron Buchan of the Western Roads Policing Unit, said:

“This was an extremely serious collision and it’s very fortunate that the consequences were not even worse.

“We are continuing to appeal for information and CCTV or dash cam footage regarding the road traffic collision.

“We now believe the passenger in the VW Golf ran off from Police, and are keen to locate the passenger as they may have received serious injuries, we need to check that they are safe and well.

“I would like to thank to local community of Fenay Bridge and the people that were in the local bar and restaurant who helped emergency services in the aftermath of the collision. We are very grateful for the support.”
