Man charged over kidnapping of 87-year-old man in Oldham

The pensioner was bundled into a car and robbed, before being thrown out 15 miles away in West Yorkshire

A man has been charged after an 87-year-old man was bundled into a car in Oldham, robbed and dumped 15 miles away in West Yorkshire.

The pensioner was walking home from a mosque on Sunday 15 September, when he was blindfolded and attacked.

Police have now charged 24-year-old Shohad Miah from Firbank Road in Royton with kidnap, Section 18 GBH, robbery and intentional strangulation.

He has been remanded into custody and is due to appear at Tameside Magistrates Court on Tuesday (September 24).
