A man's been charged after firing a gun in Holmfirth.

20-year-old Cole Brook from Manor Street in Huddersfield appeared before magistrates on Saturday charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life after the incident on Dunford Street on the 16th of February.

Six others have been bailed, with a further suspect taken into custody, whilst Cole has been remanded until his crown court appearance next month.

West Yorkshire Police said: "Brook appeared before magistrates on Saturday and has been remanded into custody until 22 March when he is due to appear at Leeds Crown Court.

"Six other males who were arrested on suspicion of firearms offences in connection with the incident have been bailed pending further enquiries.

"One further suspect, a 21-year-old male from the Huddersfield area, has been arrested and taken into custody.

"Specialist officers have been conducting enquiries in the Meltham, Huddersfield and Holmfirth areas following the incident and are keen to hear from anyone who may have information."

Senior Investigation Officer Chief Inspector Matt Holdsworth of the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team (HMET) said: “We are still investigating the wider circumstances surrounding this firearms discharge and would therefore continue to appeal to people to come forward with any information or footage they may have in connection with it.”
