Man Admits Beeston Sex Attack but Denies Attempted Murder
A Slovakian man has admitted attacking and seriously sexually assaulting a young woman in Beeston.
21-year-old Zdenko Turtak appeared at Leeds Crown Court via video link. He pleaded guilty to serious sexual assault and causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
Turtak pleaded not guilty to attempted murder.
The prosecution must now decide whether to accept the plea. If they do, Turtak was told he would be sentenced on October 19.
If there is to be a trial, he is due back in court on November 8.
The brutal attack happened in March this year, with the subsequent police investigation involving hundreds of DNA swabs being taken from men in the Beeston area.
Turtak was arrested in Slovakia in July and extradited to the UK.
