From today (April 14), bus services will no longer travel through the heart of Bradford City Centre as part of major works to pedestrianise the area.

Instead, a new, permanent, public transport loop will run around the centre as work continues to make new pedestrian routes and green spaces.

The loop is also said to avoid previous hotspots in the city which get snagged up with traffic, in turn, helping bus services to run more reliably - and encouraging more people to get on the bus.

It’s ahead of City of Culture celebrations next year - as part of a multi million pound investment into local transport.

Passengers are being urged to check before they travel to see if their services and stops are impacted and allow extra time for journeys.

You can find out more about the 'Bradford Bus Move' on the West Yorkshire Metro website - whilst there's more details about 'Future Bradford' and what this scheme means for the city here.
