Listed building in Bradford city centre on the market
Glyde House on Little Horton Lane is being sold off by the cash strapped local authority
A LISTED city centre building that “could be suitable for broadcasting or a museum” is being sold by Bradford Council.
Glyde House on Little Horton Lane is one of the many assets that Bradford Council is selling in a bid to balance its finances.
It has now been listed for sale for £475,000.
The Grade II listed building was built as a chapel school in the 1860s, but has more recently been used as offices, an event space and bar.
The empty building has previously been put on the market by Bradford Council, but only the property’s leasehold was for sale in those instances – with the caveat that the buyer had to pay ground rent of around £25,000 a year to the Council.
The current sale is for the building’s freehold.
Glyde House was built as a chapel school and named after a popular minister, Jonathan Glyde, who established the Town Mission.
It was designed in a “restrained Dutch Jacobean Renaissance manner” and was listed in 1983.
The property listing, by estate agents Mark Brearley & Co, says, describes Glyde House as: “Freehold Grade II Listed office building extending to approximately 666.44 sq.m with car parking
“Suitable for a variety of uses including cultural, arts, broadcasting, museum, events etc. – subject to planning.”
