MND fundraiser Lindsey Burrow to receive honorary doctorate from Leeds Beckett University

Triathletes Georgia Taylor-Brown MBE and Alex Yee MBE are also set to collect awards

MND fundraiser Lindsey Burrow and local Olympic heroes Georgia Taylor-Brown MBE and Alex Yee MBE are among famous faces set to receive honorary doctorates from Leeds Beckett University.

Lindsey, the wife of late Leeds Rhinos star and campaigner Rob Burrow, will be recognised for her awareness and fundraising efforts both before and after her husband's death.

Also among those set to receive awards next month are triathletes Georgia Taylor-Brown MBE and Alex Yee MBE, as well as weightlifter Emily Campbell - all for serves to sport.

Performance artist Rose English will be recognised for services to the arts, Four Leeds Council Chief Executive Tom Riordan for his public service and community leader Dennis Robbins for his work with the Hunsley Club.

Reacting to the news, Lindsey Burrow said: "I am deeply honoured to receive this honorary doctorate in health."

"This recognition means so much, not just to me, but to everyone affected by MND.

"Raising awareness and funds for the MND community is something I'm incredibly passionate about, and I feel privileged to be able to use my voice to continue Rob's legacy.

"As an NHS physiotherapist, I’ve seen first-hand the power of compassion and care - and I'll continue to champion both in everything I do."
