LEEDS UNITED: Rosler Sacked, Evans Appointed

Published 19th Oct 2015

It’s understood former Rotherham boss Steve Evans is taking the reigns at Leeds United.

Uwe Rosler was sacked on Monday morning. The German became the fifth manager to lose his job at Elland Road under the tenure of Italian owner Massimo Cellino following Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Championship leaders Brighton.

Evans has taken training at Thorp Arch today.

Former Whites boss Neil Redfearn has just taken charge at Evan’s former club Rotherham. He says nothing will be achieved without a long-term plan.

Redfearn said: “I don't want to comment too much on what's happening, but to build anything or to create anything you need stability.

“It's probably frustrating for Uwe because he will have had his plans and put things in place as did I last year and got them to a certain situation where you think you can take them on.

“But they do it as they want to do it.

“I have got a lot of friends at Leeds and I wish them every success apart from when they play us.

“But to be honest with you I am more interested in Rotherham United. This is where I am at, this is what I am excited about.

“We have got a lot of good people at this football club that understand the game.”

Evans has taken training at Thorp Arch on Monday and ihas agreed a rolling contract with the club.

The Scot did a fine job at the Millers, taking them from League Two to Championship safety in three seasons, but his imminent appointment still comes as a shock.

Redfearn added: “Good luck to him. He's had success wherever he has been.”
