Leeds United fan with leukaemia looks for donor match at Whites match
A 21-year-old woman from Leeds who's yet to find a suitable donor is hoping people will sign up to be on the Anthony Nolan register at today's game
A 21 year old woman from Leeds is today hoping that football fans might help save her life.
Emily Land was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemis in October last year after noticing unexplained bruises on her legs.
Following intensive treatment and a period of isolation, she was able to ring the end of treatment bell at St James' Hospital in July - only for a month later doctors to deliver the devastating news the condition has returned.
It's left her needing a stem cell or bone marrow donor - but medics are yet to find a match, after having to rule-out her sister.
Today a group of 16 people close to Emily, made up of friends, family and someone who's had a transplant will be at Elland Road ahead of the Whites clash with the Gunners.
They will be handing out leaflets and swabs in the hope that people will sign up to the Anthony Nolan register.
Emily won't be at the game, despite being a big Leeds United fan, due to her low immune system.
Her friends and family will be near the East Stand with information taking registrations, if they can get signal.
