Leeds United fan banned for three years over e-cigarette throw
It was thrown onto the pitch after Leeds were denied a penalty against Watford in September
A Leeds United fan has been banned for three years after an e-cigarette was thrown onto the pitch during their match against Watford.
It landed next to the referee after Leeds were denied a penalty, with the official picking up the item and taking it off the pitch.
CCTV revealed Daniel Bull from Harhill in South Yorkshire throwing the item during the game.
He has today been given a three year Football Banning Order, fined, and told to pay court costs.
Speaking after the sentencing, Chief Superintendent Russell Hughes, who led the policing operation at the match, said: “Criminal behaviour like this is completely unacceptable and poses a significant risk of injury to match officials and players.
“West Yorkshire Police will always treat incidents like this very seriously. We work closely with Leeds United and visiting clubs to fully investigate any offences committed and we will also take robust action against those responsible, including seeking Football Banning Orders against them.”
