A Leeds Imam says hateful anti-Islam letters have caused 'alarm' to Muslims here and across the UK
Qari Asim MBE's spoken to us as West Yorkshire Police investigate at least 6 reports of letters advertising "Punish a Muslim Day"
"These letters are revolting, we've seen hatred online, but this is now receiving something through the post, which is really disturbing and people are scared to go outside."
He goes on to say, the community will not let the letters frighten them, and some of the responses have given him hope - including the "love a Muslim day" letter.
Counter-terror police are investigating the hate letters, and want anyone with concerns to get in touch with police
Qari, who's the Senior Imam at Leeds Makkah Mosque and independent member of the Government’s Anti-Muslim Hatred Group told us:

Qari Asim MBE, Senior Imam at Leeds Makkah Mosque and independent member of the Government’s Anti-Muslim Hatred Group told us:
“There’s no denying that these revolting letters have caused alarm amongst many in the Muslim community. These attempts to divide us represent the very worst of a deplorable anti-Muslim sentiment that has been rearing its head with increasing frequency over the past year.
"It is reassuring, however, to see the excellent response from our authorities, and wider communities, taking this so seriously. It is equally important that those who have received the letters contact the police as all evidence is vital in helping them find, and hold accountable, whoever is responsible for such hateful rhetoric.
"The Qur’an says repel evil with good. One of the best responses to such bigotry and hatred has been the letter stating ‘Love a Muslim Day’!
