Man charged with attempted murder after Leeds firearm discharge
Patson Mafaune will appear before Leeds Magistrates' Court on Saturday
A man from Leeds has been charged with attempted murder following the discharge of a firearm in Leeds city centre.
Officers from West Yorkshire Police confirmed that Patson Mafaune was charged and will appear before Leeds Magistrates' Court on Saturday (July 27th).
Mafaune was charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and dangerous driving.
The 25-year-old, of Servia Drive in north Leeds, was charged with the incident after the firearm caused damage to a vehicle on Burley Road on Thursday (July 25th).
West Yorkshire Police said they were called to the incident at 5:10pm on Thursday, and determined that no one was injured in the discharge.
A second man, also aged 25, was also arrested by police on suspicion of attempted murder and currently remains in police custody.
A third man, who was arrested shortly after the firearm discharged, has since been released on bail.
Meanwhile, investigators are continuing to appeal for information into the incident and have urged anyone with information to get in touch.
Those who may have witnessed the discharge take place or have dashcam or doorbell footage of the area around the time of the incident are being particularly asked to come forward.
