Leeds Couple Die In Tunisia Attack

It's been confirmed that a Leeds couple have been killed in the attack in Tunisia.

The family of Christopher and Sharon Bell have released a statement:

"We are deeply saddened by the loss of both mum Sharon and dad Christopher who were taken from us during the terrorist attacks in Tunisia.

Currently we have very little information surrounding the circumstances of the tragedy and we are working with the authorities to gather as much information as possible.

As a family we are grieving and we would ask that our privacy be respected at this difficult time.

Our thoughts are with all those affected by the tragedies.

Thank you."

Mark Brady was a friend and neighbour. He told Radio Aire: “I’m a neighbour, a friend, known them many, many years. Chris everyday used to come for a chat on his way to work.”

“We both work hard and we all look forward to the holidays. So I knew he was going… expected him to come back to be honest but… it’s very very sad.”

“I’ve seen the family; I just thought they were visiting Chris as he came back, but obviously it’s the wrong circumstances.”

“We’ve just come back from Tunisia so it hits home really hard with us. Wrong place, wrong time… Wrong resort, we were further down the coast. It could’ve been our hotel.”

“There’s no other words, words are no good, not very good in these circumstances.”

“Every time he came past the house we’d both build our holidays up for months before.”

“They holidays keep you going… you have an aim in life and holidays were both our aims. I knew his hotel, I’d seen it in the brochure, he was getting giddy for it… that’s his main life; his holidays. Work hard and play hard and never to be again.”

“We go wherever there’s been warfare. They need people, they need tourism. You can go down to Leeds City Centre and not come home, so it wouldn’t stop me.”
