Two Leeds Olympians - Diver, Rebecca Gallantree and Weightlifter Jack Oliver, have launched the city’s first ever urban assault course.

Primal Stampede is a 3.5km assault course on Sunday 23rd August 2015 featuring 20 challenging and fun obstacles around the newly re-developed Leeds Dock. All proceeds from the event, organised by Primal Gym, go to Radio Aire’s Cash for Kids and the Jane Tomlinson Appeal.

Rebecca Gallantree, who was named Sportswoman of the Year at the 2015 Leeds Sports Awards, will be trying out some of the obstacles on Friday. She said: “Fitness has always played an important role in my life so it’s great to see events like this taking place, which encourage people to get the heart pumping and legs moving! It’s not just about fitness though; it’s about raising important funds for charity as well. It promises to be a fantastic day and one I’m proud to support.”

British record holder, Olympic and 2 x Commonwealth Games competitor Jack Oliver said: “Events such as this provide a great opportunity for people to get involved in fun fitness activities who wouldn't normally try them. These events demonstrate that the world of health and fitness isn't all about hard work. It’s also a great way to enjoy yourself, meet new people and get involved in a community. The fact that the event is also raising money for charity shows perfectly how health and fitness can be a benefit to everyone, not just those directly involved.”

Registration for Primal Stampede is open now at www.getprimal.co.uk/stampede

Obstacles include 7 foot climbing walls, scramble nets, a soapy slip and slide, tyre hop and ice water dips. All proceeds go to charity and participants are urged to fundraise as well.
