Leeds Carnival 2018: Everything you need to know

Organisers say they want to build on the success of last year's 50th anniversary celebrations.

The longest running Caribbean Carnival in Europe returns to the City for its 51st year - and this year is set to be bigger than ever.

Run entirely by volunteers, this is the biggest carnival outside of London - and every year the turn out grows with thousands of people expected to flock Chapeltown’s most colourful event.

The dramatic spectacle, founded by Arthur France in 1967, is a celebration of fusion of Caribbean music, dance, costumes and food that takes to the streets of Leeds for three days of non-stop celebration- ending with the huge Carnival Parade on Bank Holiday Morning.

It's one of the oldest Caribbean carnivals in the whole of the UK.

The parade is due to start at 2pm and if you’re hoping to catch a glimpse of the procession, here is the route:
