Rail services restarted between Leeds and Carlisle after bull struck by train

Rail services have restarted between Leeds and Carlisle, after a train struck a bull earlier this morning (3rd September 2021).

The train was travelling between Settle and Carlisle, and the incident occurred after 9.15am near Ribblehead.

The bull sadly died as a result of the collision.

The train has suffered significant damage and has been removed from service.

Services were affected for more than four hours, with many trains cancelled and delayed.
