An all-out bus strike which was set to go ahead on Tuesday (26th July) has now been suspended.

Leeds bus workers will be voting on a new improved two-year pay deal over the next fortnight.

Unite say the ballot result of the 1,000 bus workers, based at the Bramley and Hunslet Park depots in Leeds, would be known on Thursday 11 August.

Phil Bown, regional officer for Unite, says: "We appreciate that the threat of strike action has caused concern to the travelling public in Leeds, but Unite believes that the new offer on the table offers an excellent opportunity to resolve this dispute."

The ballot will be presented to drivers on August 8th.

Paul Matthews, managing director for First West Yorkshire said, "I'm pleased that Unite have suspended strike action. Although the dispute is not yet resolved we are hopeful the offer will be accepted and avoid any further disruption for our customers."
