Leeds bakery overwhelmed with donations for Turkey

The Karpaty warehouse has seen people travelling from across the North to bring clothes, food and toiletries

A bakery in Leeds has been so overwhelmed with donations from across the North, they've had to stop accepting them.

Over the last week, the Karpaty warehouse in East Leeds has seen people arriving from as far away as Stockton-on-Tees and Darlington to bring donations, with items including jumpers, shoes, bags, toiletries, nappies, baby food and sleeping bags.

Most of the items have already been flown over to Turkey via Manchester Airport, where they are then being distributed by a charity.

Karpaty owner Omer Kondu is from Turkey and still has many friends and family members there.
