A council consultation to cut spending by closing two care homes ends today.

Family of loved ones in the dementia specialist care homes have been campaigning to save them, with fears a move could lead to deterioration of health.

The authority which launched the consultation in October last year, had forecasted a £47.8m overspend.

Sara who's mum is in Castle Grange told us: "Dementia has taken so much from our loved ones, and now for their homes to be potentially taken, is just huge, it would be devastating, it would be catastrophic."

Sara, among with other family members at the nursing homes have been campaigning since the homes came under threat of closure.

The consultation ends at midnight.
