Bradford Bulls player Keven Appo charged with rape and sexual assault
The 25 year old has had his contract with the club cancelled
Bradford Bulls player Keven Appo is due to appear in court next week after being charged with multiple sexual offences.
The 25 year old, who's from Papua New Guinea but who lives in Halifax, is facing one count of rape, one of sexual assault on a woman and two counts of assault.
The allegations relate to an investigation by the Calderdale District Adult Protection Team launched after reports were made in April 2024.
He's been released on bail and is due to appear before Bradford Magistrates Court on Monday (January 6).
In a statement, Bradford Bulls have confirmed Appo has been released from his playing contract.
"Following today’s West Yorkshire Police statement, the Bradford Bulls have cancelled Keven Appo’s playing contract" the club wrote.
“Given the circumstances, the club is duty bound to make no further comment at this stage.
"The search for a suitable, quality replacement is underway"
The 25 year old joined the Championship side in 2023 playing as a lock or second row.
He also plays for the Papua New Guinea national side.
