A man has been jailed for six years and six months after a spate of serious crashes on the roads of West and South Yorkshire, which left people with life changing injures.

Kallum Flowers, 35, of Masefield Road, West Melton, was sentenced last week at Sheffield Crown Court over two incidents.

During a collision in 2023 he stuck and left a 28 year old man with critical injuries after running a red light at the junction of Rotherham Road and Firth Road.

His white Transit van was travelling at such a speed it forced the Seat car it hit into a stone wall 60 metres away, ripping off the drivers' door and ejecting him from the vehicle.

The victim, Joshua Lloyd, still needs round the clock care around two years on.

Following this incident, 30 year old Hannah Costello of Masefield Road in West Melton helped flowers flee the scene, picking him up and allowing him to go on the run.

Flowers evaded police for the following four months, during which time he was involved in a separate crash after failing to stop for West Yorkshire Police in South Kirby.

The collision on June 28 2023 saw Flowers strike a a Vauxhall Corsa at the junction of Park Estate and Stockingate.

A 61 year old woman was left with serious injured.

Flowers was eventually arrested in the Shiregreen area of Sheffield on November 2 and charged with causing serious injuries by dangerous driving, failing to stop and failing to report.

He was sentenced last week at Sheffield Crown Court, where he was also handed an eight year three month driving ban to be served upon release.

Costello was also charged with dangerous driving and assisting an offender in connection with the incident in South Yorkshire.

She will serve a two year suspended sentence, a 12 month driving ban and have to complete 150 hours of unpaid work.
