Jo Cox's 42nd birthday to be marked across the world
On what would have been the Labour MPs 42nd birthday, thousands of people from around the world are expected to attend events to mark Jo Cox's birthday.
Thousands of people are expected to attend events around the world to celebrate what would have been the late MPs 42nd birthday.
An event will be held in Jo Cox's constituency of Batley and Spen. At the same time a flotilla will sail along the Rivers Thames, followed by the main commemeration service which will take place in Trafalgar Square.
Jo Cox shares her birthday with the pensioner who tried to save her life. Bernard Kenny, who has recently been discharged from hospital after being stabbed in the stomach, will turn 78.
Associate Priest at Batley Parish Church, Mark Umpleby, will be speaking at the event. He told Radio Aire: "Obviously we will be continuing to remember and mourn Jo and celebrate her life. But I'll also be talking about the way in which our community have been coming together since the dreadful events of last Thursday."
"People will be celebrating who Jo was, her warmth, her love and her energy - the passion she had. Jo will be remembered as a Yorkshire lass."
"The event is saying that we've seen the hate but we're actually coming together to say we're not going to give in. We will be speaking up just as Jo would by being a voice for others."
