Investigations start into two separate violence incidents in West Yorkshire

Police are looking into reports of attacks in Dewsbury and Halifax

Investigations are underway into two separate violent incidents in West Yorkshire.

The first happened on Thursday in Dewsbury and the second in the early hours of this morning in Halifax.

West Yorkshire Police were called to Jenson Avenue at Staincliffe Park in Dewsbury to reports of a people fighting with weapons including knives and machetes.

When they arrived at the scene nobody was found.

Meanwhile a large part of Halifax town centre - around the Victoria Theatre - was cordoned off in the early hours of this morning.

A man aged 26 has been seriously injured after being assaulted with a broken bottle just before 1.30am.

Two other men have less serious injuries and have been discharged from hospital.

A man who's 38 has been arrested and remains in custody.
