An investigation is underway after a Police officer was hit by a quadbike in Bradford.

Officers say they were called to reports of off-road bikes being ridden dangerously on Sunday.

A 27-year-old man from Huddersfield has been arrested for driving over the prescribed limit and grievous bodily harm.

A Police spokesperson said:

"Police received multiple reports of off-road bikes being driven dangerous in the Bradford South area at the weekend.

"On Sunday 14 July, a group of males were reported to be riding quad bikes and off-road bikes in Harold Lodge Park and then proceeded to ride at excessive speeds on the roads in the area.

"On Tong Street officers deployed a stinger after multiple bikes failed to stop for police. One suspect then rode directly into an officer injuring him.

"A 27-year-old man, from Huddersfield, was arrested for driving over the prescribed limit after testing positive following a drugs test and grievous bodily harm.

"The officer was taken to hospital for treatment on a leg injury.

"Anyone who witnesses the incident or has any video or dashcam footage is asked to contact the police to assist with their enquiries."
