Investigation Into Doctor Drug Claims at LGI

Hospital bosses look into tabloid report

Published 5th Jan 2015

An investigation's been launched by bosses at Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust after tabloid allegations about a surgeon at the LGI. The claims published in the Mail on Sunday yesterday surround a consultant working at the hospital. The newspaper printed pictures it says are of the doctor taking drugs including cocaine and party drug G - just hours before he was on call. It's also claimed he's been suspended, but a statement from the Trust just says it's their policy for staff NOT to carry out clinical duties during an ingestigation into allegations such as these. They also say they're taking the matter extremely seriously and want to reassure us that patient sagety is their main priority.
