Inspirational Dr Kate Granger dies of cancer

Terminally-ill Leeds doctor Kate Granger has died of cancer at the age of 34 - days after reaching her fundraising target of £250,000.

Dr Granger inspired people around the world after writing about her experiences as a patient.

She launched the campaign #MyNameIs urging health professionals to always introduce themselves to patients.

Her husband Chris tweeted the news, saying his wife died peacefully on their 11th wedding anniversary.

Kate's #MyNameIs campaign saw health professionals across Leeds and the UK learning about compassionate care - after she noticed during her own treatment that a lot of staff didn't introduce themselves to her.

It went on to win the backing of hundreds of thousands of medical professionals, as well as the Prime Minister.

Kate was awarded for her fundraising efforts with an MBE in the 2014 New Years Honours List.

She had been receiving care at St Gemma's Hospice in Leeds.
