Criticism over plans to calm traffic in Ilkley after locals voted overwhelming against it
The results show people support targeted zones but majority don't want it town-wide

People in Ilkley say they'd like traffic to be calmed, but it's a mixed response on how best to achieve this.
The proposals from Bradford Council include a blanket 20mph speed-limit and 140 new speed bumps.
People in Ilkley were invited to vote on the plans on Monday, with just over 34 per cent of the town's eligible 11,950 voters taking part.
The result of the vote cannot legally halt the plans though, which are supported by Ilkley Town Council.
There were six questions to consider:
Question 1: 'Do you want a combined town wide 20mph zone with road humps?' 3,606 said no, while 433 said yes.
Questions 2: 'Do you want a town wide 20mph speed limit?' 3,059 said no, while 944 said yes.
Question 3: is 'Do you support having town wide road humps?' 3,666 said no, while 356 said yes.
Question 4: 'Are you in favour of targeted 20mph zones?' 1,786 said no, while 2,256 said yes.
Question 5: 'Are you in favour of targeted road humps?' 2,953 said no, while 1,085 said yes
Question 6: 'Do you support Ilkley Town Council spending £87,500 on the proposed scheme?' 3,261 said no, while 760 said yes.
Speaking to people in Ilkley, one person told us: "I don't want them spending huge amounts of money on the speed bumps, I'm quite in favour of a 20mph speed limit".
Another said: "Why are they introducing it? Maybe if they're thinking of calming Ilkley down, it should be a one way system".
Bradford Council gave the plans the green light in September, and it's expected to go live by the end of the year.
