An investigation has been launched after a gun was fired at three people in Huddersfield last night.

The incident occurred on Farriers Street at around 8.05pm, with nobody being injured.

It's the second incident involving a firearm in Huddersfield, with a man in his 30s suffering serious injuries in the Marsh area at around the same time on Monday.

The two incidents are not being treated as connected.

Detective Inspector Kelly Brown of West Yorkshire Police said: “We understand that there will be some concern and speculation in the community following this and another firearms discharge."

“From the enquiries conducted so far, we believe this was a targeted attack and that it is not linked to the other firearms discharge in Huddersfield overnight.

“I would urge anyone who has any information about this offence to please report it, either directly to the police or anonymously to Crimestoppers.

“There will be increased neighbourhood policing patrols in the area to provide reassurance to local residents.”
