Two men responsible for a series of robberies in Huddersfield have been jailed for a combined 12 years.

19 year old Paul Powell, of Logwood Road, will spend six years and six months behind bars for robbery, attempted robbery and possession of a knife.

26 year old Samuel Shelton, of Wheathouse Road, was sentenced to six years at Leeds Crown Court for robbery and driving while disqualified.

It follows a series of incidents where delivery drivers were targeted, along with members of the public, between June 14th and June 25th last year.

Both admitted guilt at a hearing in December.

DC Walker, of West Yorkshire Police, said: “We welcome the conviction of these two men for a series of nasty robbery offences in which members of the public were approached and threatened for their property.

“These offences caused real distress for victims and prompted a large scale investigation by detectives, resulting in these men being identified and a strong criminal case being built against them.

“Tackling robbery remains a priority for the force and we hope victims from these offences can take some comfort from seeing these men behind bars.”
