Detectives are appealing for information after a 27-year-old man was seriously injured during an attack involving a gun and a bladed weapon in Huddersfield.

The incident took place on Springwood Hall Gardens at around 5.35pm on Thursday (November 20).

Police were called to the street following reports of a gun being fired and found a car on a driveway with the victim inside.

The man had suffered a serious leg injury caused by a bladed weapon, as well as pellet wounds to his back. The vehicle itself was also damaged by the firearm.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.

According to police, two male suspects are believed to have carried out the assault before fleeing the scene in a black car driven by a third person.

Detective Inspector Tom Hilyer, from West Yorkshire Police, said the incident is being treated with the "utmost seriousness."

“In this instance, it appears a gun was fired, with suspects then assaulting the victim inside his car with a bladed weapon before making off," Hilyer said.

“This has clearly been a very violent, targeted, incident and it is important persons prepared to behave in such a lawless way are brought to justice as quickly as possible.

“From enquiries, we do think there were potential witnesses present in the street at the time of the shooting and we would ask them, or anyone who has relevant footage or information, to contact us.”
