Person hospitalised with burns after Huddersfield electric station fire

Emergency services are working with Northern Powergrid after the incident

A person has been taken to hospital with serious burns following a fire at an electrical substation in Huddersfield.

Officers were alerted to the incident on Market Street in Huddersfield just after 8:30pm on Saturday evening (March 15th).

When responders from Huddersfield Fire Station arrived on the scene, they found that a fire had taken place at the facility, with one person being burned as a result.

The person was assessed by firefighters as emergency services were called to the substation, with the victim then being taken to hospital for their injuries.

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said they worked closely with West Yorkshire Police and the Northern Powergrid in order to resolve the fire and restore power.

In total, two different breathing apparatus were used in the incident, alongside one hose reel which was used to put out the fire.
