Huddersfield man jailed for Class A drug dealing as police pledge to 'keep up pressure'
In the latest case a 26 year old has been jailed for two years eight months
Police in Huddersfield have pledged to 'keep up pressure' on local drug dealers, as a man is jailed for two years eight months.
26 year old Corey Simpson, of Scholes in Holmfirth, was handed the sentence at Leeds Crown Court last month for possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.
He was stopped by officers in the New Hey Road area in May and was found to be carrying a large amount of cash.
Officers later found Class A drugs, including crack cocaine.
It follows the sentenced of two other men, aged 64 and 26, last month and in May for similar offences.
Inspector Nicholas Kitson of West Yorkshire Police said: “Drug dealers and producers operating in Huddersfield are now regularly appearing before our courts and we are absolutely determined to make sure this continues"
“It has been notable that in all three of these recent separate convictions that defendants have admitted their offending due to the strength of the evidence against them.
“In the latest case, Simpson was caught thanks to good old fashioned proactive policing by officers who became suspicious of him due to his demeanour and conducted a search.”
“Our operation to specifically target organised criminality in Huddersfield continues and I want to extend my thanks to residents who continue to report drugs offending to us.
“I urge them to keep contacting us with intelligence which we can use to identify and target offenders who create misery on our streets through drugs crime.
“All information supplied either directly to us, or anonymously via Crimestoppers is assessed and used to help us plan operations such as that which took down Gilbert in March.”
