Murder investigation launched after body of man found in Huddersfield

West Yorkshire Police say that "extensive enquiries" are underway

West Yorkshire Police have launched a murder investigation following the death of a man in Huddersfield.

Officers were first alerted to the incident on Park Road in the Crossland Moor area of Huddersfield just before 8:20pm on Thursday (September 5th).

When responders arrived on scene to reports of a sudden death, the body of a 59-year-old man was discovered, believed to have serious injuries.

Enquiries were launched following the discovery, with West Yorkshire Police's Homicide and Major Enquiry Team declaring a murder investigation soon afterwards.

An appeal has now been launched, urging the public with any potential information to come forward as soon as possible.

Speaking on the case, Detective Chief Inspector Michael Cox from the force said: "We have extensive enquiries ongoing into this incident and would like to hear from anyone who witnessed or heard any suspicious activity in the Park Road area on Thursday afternoon or early evening.

"We understand this incident will cause some concern in the community and officers are conducting reassurance patrols in the area."
