A man in Leeds has celebrated his 50th birthday in an unusual way - with a 50/50/50 challenge.

Andy Deane, who is a Royal Armouries jouster and Historical Advisor at the Leeds museum, exercised for 50 minutes wearing armour that weighs 50 lbs. The challenge included five rounds in a boxing ring, pulling and pushing a 50 kilogram sled, rowing and cycling.

It was in preparation for the Royal Armouries Easter tournament, where he'll face international competition.

He also admits it was a personal challenge: "Having lost most of my hair and the waistband expanding, I thought 'ooh, is this a midlife crisis coming towards me?'. So I thought: do I get a new sporty car? Do I get a motorbike? Do I do something crazy? And I thought well, the only thing crazy I could do is maybe just to prove I'm not as old and as broken and as washed up as I think at the end of the day fighting at the museum or doing some of the performances" It took place at the Primal Gym based in Leeds Dock.
