A dad from Halifax is setting off on an extreme challenge today; Ben Moorhouse is walking the whole of the Greek island, Rhodes, in just two days.

The aim is to raise £20,000 for the charity he set up, The Kallipateira Moorhouse Foundation, after his daughter, Kallipateira, was stillborn at 38 weeks in October 2018.

Ben and his partner, Gaynor, then experienced a miscarriage in May 2019 at 9 weeks of pregnancy.

They launched their charity to help save babies lives through research and support other parents who have experienced the death of a baby.

Following the stillbirth of their daughter and miscarriage they knew if they wanted to have the best chance of another child with a better outcome, they must be cared for by Professor Alexander Heazell of the Tommy’s rainbow clinic and research Centre in Manchester.

On May 23rd, 2020 Ben and partner Gaynor Thompson gave birth to their Rainbow baby boy Apollon in Manchester.

Today (14th August) Ben along with his support team of Gaynor and Jason Croft will attempt to walk around the full Greek island of Rhodes, a total of 150 miles nonstop and with no sleep at the height of summer and soaring temperatures.

Ben wants to finish the challenge in just 48 hours or less in honour of his daughter and all funds raised will help save babies lives nationally.

Ben has set himself a target of £20,000 for the extreme challenge walk and he will create history in Rhodes if he completes this.
