Government to release further information on 2022 GCSEs and A levels

The government is set to release further information on this years GCSEs and A levels today.

GCSE students will be given a choice of topics and be told the "focus" of exams in advance to "maximise fairness" in history, English literature, ancient history and geography.

Changes will also be made to take into account the disruption pupils have faced during the pandemic.

"Some students will have been impacted more than others, and its looking at how fair that system can be for all students, we'll never get complete fairness, but making it as fair as possible.

"A combination of teacher assessed and externally assessed material would be more beneficial and result in a fairer grade."

"It's a fine balance between teaching the whole curriculum, but not setting students up to fail. I think the exam boards need to consider the grade boundaries and standards for this exam series and not to have the standard as high as it was back in 2019, there needs to be some flexbility.
