Four arrested after police chase ends in crash on M62 near Huddersfield

A driver suffered serious injuries and is recovering in hospital

Four teenagers have been arrested after a police chase which ended in a crash on the M62 near Huddersfield.

Officers were following a white Toyota Corolla which had failed to stop on the M621 at Birstall on Saturday.

At around 3pm it collided with a silver Peugeot 306 near Junction 24 of the M62.

The driver of the Peugeot is in hospital with serious injuries..

An 18 year old woman was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop for the police and theft of a motor vehicle.

She has been released under investigation.

Three other teenagers, aged 17, 17 and 19, were arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and have been released on bail.

The Toyota had been taken from New York Street in Leeds on November 15.

Any witnesses to the incident are being urged to contact West Yorkshire Police on 101.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct has been notified about what happened.
