Police have launched a murder investigation and made five arrests after the disappearance of a man in Bradford five years ago.

Ismail Ali hasn't been seen since leaving his work at Gulam Food Stores, on Cumberland Road, at 2.30pm on May 29 2020

His case has been regularly viewed since and police now think he's no longer alive and may have been killed.

Three women aged 47, 54 and 55 and two men aged 27 and 51 have all been detained on suspicion of murder.

Senior Investigating Officer Detective Inspector Tom Hilyer of West Yorkshire Police, said:

“This is a significant development in the investigation into the disappearance of Ismail Ali.

“After extensive enquiries we now suspect that Ismail Ali is no longer alive, and we suspect that he may have been murdered.

“I would like to appeal to the local community; we are still keen to speak to anyone who saw Ismail or may have information about his suspicious disappearance to come forward.

“We know as time passes allegiances change, any information could be key to getting answers about Mr Ali’s disappearance.”
