Five arrested in connection with drug supply in Yorkshire

Police carried out raids in Kirklees and Whitby earlier.

Five people have been arrested as part of a police operation to tackle the supply of drugs across Yorkshire.

West Yorkshire Police worked with officers from North Yorkshire Police, the British Transport Police and the Regional Organised Crime Unit and carried out raids in Huddersfield and Whitby today.

A man aged 22 was arrested on suspicion of Conspiracy to supply Class A drugs, and a 22 year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and possession with intent to supply Class A drugs in Kirklees.

Two men and a woman were also arrested after a raid in Whitby.

All are being questioned in connection with the alleged supply of drugs in Scarborough.

Detective Chief Inspector Tanya Wilkins of Kirklees District Police, said: “West Yorkshire officers including our Programme Precision team and Huddersfield NPT joined with... colleagues to execute a warrant in Huddersfield this morning, and our enquires and searches remain ongoing.

“West Yorkshire Police is committed to combatting serious organized crime both within our County and outside it and work closely with partner agencies to tackle criminal networks.

“Our Programme Precision Team also operates across West Yorkshire to provide a specialist resource in tackling serious organized criminal activity.”
