Fire Crews Called to Building Fire on the Headrow

Fire crews were called to the Headrow last night to tackle a blaze at Direct Line House next to the Light.

They arrived at the six storey building at around 11.30pm, and were still dealing with the incident three hours later.

Eight pumps and three hose reels were used to tackle the fire, which was in the basement. Three sides of the building were at risk of exposure.

Appliances from Leeds, Gipton, Hunslet, Moortown, Stanks and Stanningley were involved, as well as specialist appliances from around the county.

A number of specialist officers were also called to assist.
