Faulty component led to fears crane could collapse in Leeds
Large parts of the city were evacuated and cordoned off last night
A construction company has said a "faulty component" on a crane was to blame for widespread disruption in Leeds last night.
Large parts of the city were cordoned off and buildings close to the train station evacuated over fears it could collapse.
In a statement, Bowmer + Kirkland said engineers carried out repairs and the exclusion zone was lifted by 7pm on November 14th.
It added: "Works will be ongoing over the next few days to replace further crane components and recommission the equipment to ensure ongoing operational safety."
