Man dies after car strikes pedestrians in Meltham

A man has died and a woman has been injured after a car struck two pedestrians in Meltham, near Huddersfield.

The incident happened at around 2pm yesterday (21st November), on Meltham Mill Road.

A grey Skoda Fabia travelling towards Huddersfield is reported to have left the road and hit a man and a woman walking on the pavement.

The man, aged 60, was pronounced dead at the scene, while the woman sustained minor injuries.

The driver of the Skoda, a 33-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

The Major Collision Enquiry Team is leading the investigation and has requested assistance from the public.

Officers are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or has any relevant information or footage to come forward to help with their inquiries.
