A Yorkshire MP has issued a warning after a picture emerged of a family trespassing on a railway line in Keighley.

Robbie Moore - Member of Parliament for Keighley and Ilkley - posted the photo on Facebook yesterday.

The MP said the act was "extremely dangerous, risky and totally irresponsible".

Even though the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway isn't hosting visitors at the moment due to Covid , the railway line is still being used.

Moore added: "Trespassing on the railway is illegal and dangerous - please stay safe, and do not do it."

"I would be grateful if you could spread the word."

Noel Hartley, the operations manager at Keighley and Worth Valley railway said:

"Some local people think that there are no trains running, the problem is that there are trains running. It's got to the point where it's nearly every day we've got people walking up and down the railway, because they are treating it as a footpath, it's just not acceptable.

"Those of you who are parents and doing this, you're teaching your children to engage in dangerous activity, which could put their life at risk. Not only them, but the lives of other children with them."
