A ban, which has prevented landlords evicting tenants during the pandemic, has been lifted.

It means people can now be removed from rented homes in West Yorkshire.

As the ban lifts, charities in the region fear there could be a rise in homelessness.

Natalie Moran, the CEO of Leeds homeless charity, Simon on the Streets:

"We are not out of the woods yet, the Indian variant is creeping up, we're not quite sure what's going to happen, so it is disappointing that this has happened now, when nothing's been put in place and there's still quite a lot of uncertainty.

"People often just bury their head because they're so anxious, there's so much going on that they try to just not think about it, what we are trying to do is reach out to people and say look come and talk to us, don't be anxious, don't try and deal with it on your own."
