Castleford Tigers appoint Danny Ward as head coach
He's signed for the rest of the reason
Castleford have announced the appointment of Danny Ward as head coach until the end of this season.
Ward, a former Castleford player and London Broncos head coach, will be assisted by Dane Dorahy, who joins existing Tigers assistants Craig Lingard and Scott Murrell.
The 43-year-old becomes Castleford's third head coach this term after Lee Radford and Andy Last.
The Tigers have won just four games all season and are currently caught up in a Super League relegation battle.
His first match in charge will be a crunch encounter against fellow strugglers Wakefield next week.
"I am buzzing and made up with the appointment," Ward told the club website. "It's exciting and I can't wait to get started."
Castleford director of rugby operations Danny Wilson added: "We started the process of having to appoint a new coach and we consulted the playing group and asked them what they felt they needed.
"Immediately, we thought that Danny Ward was someone who fitted the bill and we made contact.
"I think it shows our intent to stay in Super League to bring not just a coach of the calibre of Danny Ward in, but to also bring in an assistant who is up and coming to complement the great work that Craig Lingard and Scott Murrell are already doing.
"We've boxed it off now and we can really move forward and kick on for the last six games of the season."
