Sara Brown started the LS16 community uniform exchange over the summer and it's proved successful.

Parents across the LS16 post-code contacted Sara asking if they could get hand-me-down uniforms from previous pupils that have outgrown theirs, free of charge.

But after seeing the demand, she realised people need general clothes for their children and themselves.

She's now calling on the community to donate everyday clothes, that people are struggling to pay for.

In a Facebook post she said: "As some of you may be aware I run the LS16 community uniform exchange. I have been in talks about putting general clothes at events with uniform.

"So, I am in need of gathering normal everyday clothes whether it be children's or adult's clothes, coats and shoes. If you can help, then that's amazing! watch this space for posts going out for these events."

According to The Schoolwear Association the average cost of compulsory secondary school uniform and sportswear items is ÂŁ101.19 per pupil.

Sara told us: "I feel disappointment in the fact the government need to do more to help, everyone's struggling and it's so hard.

"I don't mind doing the work I need to do, I don't mind taking used clothes off of people they no longer need, to help other people. But there does need to be more support there."
