Our childhood dreams are here: Now we can be a real life Pokémon trainer

Pokémon Go is due to be released in the UK

A new app, that transforms your surroundings into the Pokémon world, has been taking the world by storm and seems to be taking over people’s lives already.

It’s only just been released in Asia and Australia but the rest of the world can't wait.

Using your phone’s GPS, camera and augmented reality, Pokémon appear on your real-life surroundings and you have the chance to catch them, just like in the popular 90’s children’s show.

All you need to do is tap the phone's screen to throw a Pokéball and you're away!

While the game gets you out and exploring your surroundings, it involves a lot of looking at your phone which could ultimately lead you anywhere, from the local museum to your neighbour's garden.

People have been sharing their game experiences on Twitter.

Judging from people's reactions, it's proving to be quite a hit. However the official Pokémon Go Twitter page had to remind people that it can also be dangerous.

No doubt it’ll be the latest Pokémon craze, following the success of the console games and the Pokémon cards that many children spent all their hard earned pocket money on.

See how the game works in the video below. Pokémon Go is due to be released in the UK today and will be available on the App Store and Google Play.

We gotta catch them all!
