Child taken to hospital after Castleford dog attack

One of the dogs involved in the attack had to be put down by armed police

A child has been treated in hospital for 'puncture wounds' after a dog attack over the weekend in Castleford.

Armed officers were called to Middle Oxford Street at around 2:20pm, with dog handlers at the scene unable to get two pets at the property inder control.

A trained firearms officer put one of the pets down, with the other being seized and placed in kennels.

Levi Lynch, 25, of Hastings Crescent in Castleford, has been charged with being in charge of a dog which was dangerously out of control causing injury.

He is due before Leeds Magistrates Court on July 8.

A 29 year old woman has also been arrested and released under investigation.
