Bradford women convicted of making death threats against local MP

A woman from Bradford who made death threats against an MP has been remanded in custody after she pleaded guilty at York Crown Court.
30 year old, Sundas Alam, of Princeville Street, Bradford, has been warned she faces a custodial sentence when she returns to the court for sentencing on 29 November.
Alam was charged with three counts of sending malicious communications to Bradford MP Naz Shah and perverting the course of justice.
She pleaded guilty to all counts.
Detective Chief Inspector Andy Farrell, of Bradford District Police, said:
“The tragic murders of Jo Cox in 2016 and more recently, Sir David Amess, emphasises the risk our MPs and elected representatives can face.
“West Yorkshire Police regularly reviews its security arrangements and also considers any additional safety concerns our MPs may have when in the process of doing so.
“We will not tolerate hate crimes against any individual and I hope that today’s result sends out a warning of the consequences that people can face if they are found to be involved in the sending of malicious communications.”
