One of Bradford's oldest buildings to get EV charging points
The National Trust has been granted planning permission for charging bays at East Riddlesden Hall
ELECTRIC vehicle charging points will be installed on the grounds of one of the Bradford district’s oldest buildings.
The National Trust has been granted planning permission to make a number of changes to the car park area at East Riddlesden Hall, just outside of Keighley.
The changes include resurfacing the Grade I-listed building’s upper car park, creating a more accessible route for disabled visitors.
It will have new accessible parking bays, as well as four EV charging bays.
East Riddlesden Hall is a 17th-century manor house, and one of the area’s top tourist attractions.
The application by the National Trust said the work “will enhance the overall use and enjoyment of the estate as a whole.”
It added: “The proposals have been kept to a minimum, carefully balancing the needs and expectations of visitors with the need to conserve and enhance the natural and historic environment.
“It is also anticipated that there will be public benefits of the proposal arising from enhancing the visitor experience of the site.”
The application has now been approved by Bradford Council, with planners saying: “The car park, and its immediate surroundings (which are quite heavily screened by trees and vegetation) will not significantly change. The addition of EV charging points, which will be via upstands, will result in a minimal visual impact.”
